Troy, NY – Vassar College First Year Eddie Zeng (Melissa, TX) has been named the Liberty League Rookie of the Week in Men's Tennis it was announced Monday afternoon. Zeng claims his first career weekly award with Monday's citation.
 
Zeng had a standout weekend for the Brewers at the ITA Northeast Regional in Saratoga Springs. Vassar's First Year posted a 4-1 record in the main singles draw, advancing to the semifinal round of the event.
 
Zeng opened the weekend with a pair of victories on Friday, posting 4-6, 6-3, 10-6 and 5-7, 6-2, 10-3 victories for the Brewers. Zeng advanced to the quarterfinal round with a 7-5, 6-4 triumph on Saturday before scoring a 0-6, 6-4, 6-3 win to advance into the final four of the draw. In the semifinal, Zeng suffered a hard fought 4-6, 7-6 (4), 2-6 defeat to Yuval Goodman who was downed in the singles final on Monday.
 
Following a successful weekend, Vassar concludes the fall with a pair of head-to-head matches against Baruch and Bard on October 3.
