#10 Vassar, Ithaca Play To Scoreless Draw

Brewers run unbeaten streak to seven games

Ithaca, NY – The #10 Vassar College Women's Soccer team ran its unbeaten to streak to start the season to seven games Saturday afternoon following a 0-0 draw at Liberty League rival Ithaca. The seven-game unbeaten streak marks the best start to a season since starting 4-0-2 in 2024.
 
Saturday's result moves Vassar to 4-0-3 overall on the season and to 1-0-1 in conference play. Ithaca now stands at 4-1-3 overall and 0-0-1 in conference competition.
 
How It Happened
  • Vassar stifled the Bombers on Saturday, allowing just one shot in the contest.
  • The Brewers took the only six shots of the opening 45 minutes and held a 2-0 advantage in corner kicks at the intermission.
  • Ithaca netminder Katrina Varnum turned aside two shots in the first half.
  • Elena Valle (Rocky Hill, CT) and Alice Crowley (St. Louis, MO) each put first half attempts on target for the Brewers.
  • Vassar closed the final 45 minutes with a 4-1 advantage in shots, but was unable to put a shot on target in the second half.
  • The Brewers finished the second half with four of the five corner kicks taken after halftime.
  • Laura Shea (Swarthmore, PA) turned aside one shot in the second frame to keep the Bombers off the board.

  • Sonya Franklin (Saxtons River, VT) led Vassar with three shots in the game.
