Troy, NY – Following an unbeaten week, the Vassar College Women's Tennis team has swept the Liberty League Weekly Awards.
Iris Li (Palo Alto, CA) has been named the league's Singles Performer of the Week and joins
Macey Dowd (Orinda, CA) on the Doubles Team of the Week, while
Sieun Lee (Wake Forest, NC) has earned Rookie of the Week accolades.
Li, who earns her second straight singles performer of the week honor and fourth of the spring, continued a standout season for the Brewers. Li went 2-0 in singles play at the second position, earning 6-1, 6-3 victory against #21 RPI on Friday and a 6-3, 6-7 (2-7), 6-3 triumph against #54 Hamilton on Sunday. With the unbeaten week, Li runs her winning streak to 11 matches and improves to 13-1 on the season.
Li and Dowd earn their third Doubles Team of the Week honor after scoring victories at the second slot against both #21 RPI and #54 Hamilton. Against the Engineers on Friday, the duo scored a 6-4 victory and closed out the week with a 6-3 win against Hamilton on Sunday. The duo closed the regular season on a three-match winning streak and with a 12-2 record.
Lee is honored by the conference for the second time this season after going a perfect 3-0 for the Brewers. Lee began the week with a with a 5-0, retired victory over #21 RPI before posting a hard fought 7-5, 7-5 triumph against #54 Hamilton with both victories coming at the fourth position. Lee moved up to the top flight at Bard Sunday afternoon and scored a 6-1, 6-0 win after teaming with
Maddie Kirby (Davidson, NC) for a 6-0 first singles win against the Raptors. With a 3-0 week, Lee pushes her singles record to 11-5.
At 12-5 overall and 7-1 in Liberty League play, Vassar earned the second seed in the conference championship and will take on the winner of the RPI/Ithaca First Round match on Saturday in the Semifinal Round of the event.
