Petrie Breaks Own Discus Throw School Record at Trinity Invitational

Junior posts a toss of 38.94 meters for a new school and career-best mark

Hartford, CT - The Vassar College Women's Track and Field team scored a sixth place finish out of 13 teams at the Trinity Invitational on Saturday behind the efforts of junior Sydney Petrie breaking her own school record in the discus throw and 11 Brewers recorded new personal-bests.

100 Meter Hurdles
  • Junior Jahmilia Dennis posted a third place finish in the prelims with a time of 14.96, which ranks in the top-40 in Division III this season.
  • Junior Freja Niklasson raced to a 12th place finish with a season-best mark of 16.14.
  • Dennis improved her time in the finals for a third place finish in a season-best time of 14.80 for a top-30 time in DIII.
100 Meters 3000 Meter Steeplechase 1500 Meters
  • Sophomore Cayley Swaim scored a 17th place finish with a personal-best time of 4:56.74 followed by classmate Acadia Helfand in 18th in a career-best time of 4:57.09.
  • Senior Noni Pattington earned a 19th place finish with a new PR of 4:58.50 and first year Hadley Snell was 20th in a personal-best time of 4:59.62.
  • First year Chloe Bibula tallied a top-25 finish with a new PR of 5:03.18.
4x100 Relay 400 Meters
  • First year Skylar Spiro registered a 16th place finish with a career-best time of 1:01.98.
  • Junior Margaret McLaughlin tallied a top-30 finish with a mark of 1:05.43.
800 Meters
  • Sophomore Norah Reade raced to a fourth place finish with a new PR of 2:17.66.
  • First year Lizzie Lowe was fifth overall with a career-best time of 2:19.24 followed by senior Sophia Henderson in 14th with a time of 2:23.23.
  • First year Sarah France set a new PR with a time of 2:24.45 for a 16th place finish and first year Elana Pukel posted a time of 2:54.65.
400 Meter Hurdles
  • Senior Faye Stevens was victorious in the 400-meter hurdles with a new personal-best time of 1:05.67.
  • Niklasson was 10th overall with a mark of 1:11.19 along with Helfand scoring a 19th place finish in 1:17.58.
200 Meters
  • Camille earned an eighth place finish with a time of 26.21 followed by Wilkins-Lanier in 22nd place with a time of 27.59.
  • Senior Laura Wong tallied a top-35 finish with a mark of 28.69.
5000 Meters
  • Senior Sophie Farr finished ninth overall with a mark of 21:57.08.
4x400 Relay
  • The squad of Henderson, Lowe, Reade and McLaughlin tallied a third place finish with a time of 4:11.80.
Javelin Throw
  • Pukel recorded a ninth place finish with a toss of 28.59 meters.
  • Stevens posted a top-20 finish with a mark of 25.31 meters.
Shot Put
  • Junior Kolby Davis registered a toss of 9.54 meters for a 12th place finish.
  • First year Meara Morgan earned 16th place finish at 9.19 meters along with junior Ava Gurley recording a throw of 8.59 meters.
  • First year Amanda Hanrahan finished 20th overall with a mark of 8.47 meters.
Long Jump
  • Junior Sydney Passley-Harris scored a ninth place finish with a leap of 4.79 meters.
  • Wilkins-Lanier finished 15th overall with a mark of 4.46 meters.
Hammer Throw
  • Hanrahan posted a 14th place finish with a toss of 32.57 meters while Davis set a new PR with a mark of 31.25 meters.
  • Senior Soleil Yuong scored a 21st place finish with a mark of 29.57 meters.
Triple Jump
  • Dennis garnered a third place finish with a leap of 11.42 meters, which ranks 33rd in Division III this season.
High Jump
  • Niklasson scored an eighth place finish with a height of 1.51 meters.
  • Stevens finished in the top-20 at 1.41 meters and junior Abbe Colgan finished with a mark of 1.31 meters.
Discus Throw
  • Petrie broke her own school record with a career-best toss of 38.94 meters for a second place finish.
  • Yuong finished ninth overall with a mark of 31.84 meters followed by Morgan finishing 11th with a new PR of 28.86 meters.
  • Hanrahan set her own personal-best toss of 28.17 meters and Colgan was 15th overall at 27.87 meters.
  • Gurley posted a season-best mark of 20.92 meters.

  • Vassar will travel to the Penn Relays on Thursday before hosting the Vassar Invite on Saturday afternoon.
