Troy, NY – For the second straight season the Vassar College Women's Basketball team had three players named First Team All-Liberty League it was announced on Tuesday. Senior Tova Gelb (Sharon, MA) was named the conference's Player and Defensive Player of the Year and is joined on the First Team by classmate Julia Harvey (Delmar, NY) and junior Sierra McDermed (San Antonio, TX).
 
Gelb s in the midst of a standout season for the Brewers, averaging a double-double with 18.6 points and 10.7 rebounds per game. On the defensive end, Gelb leads the team with 2.6 steals per game and is also good for just over one block per game and 2.9 assists.
 
Gelb is shooting 48-percent from the field to date this season and converts at 79.2-percent from the free-throw line. Gelb has notched 18 double-doubles to date for the Brewers and has scored at least 20 points on 12 occasions, including a single game program record 36 points against RIT on January 18, a game in which she scored her 1,000^th career point.
 
Heading into the First Round of the NCAA Tournament, Gelb leads the Liberty League in scoring, rebounding and steals and ranks second in the conference in field goal percentage. Gelb also sits within the top-10 in the league in free-throw percentage (fifth), blocks (eighth) and assists (ninth).  
 
Harvey earns First Team accolades for the second straight year and All-League honors for the third time in her career. Harvey was named the Liberty League Championship Most Outstanding Player after averaging 21.0 points per game over two contests in the tournament, including 22 points in the Championship Final against Ithaca.
 
Harvey is good for 15.8 points per game and leads the team with 46 three-point field goals. Harvey is shooting 33.1-percent from bonus distance to date, including a 4-for-7 mark in Sunday's final at Ithaca. Harvey connects at 87.8-percent from the free-throw line and is collecting just over five rebounds per game.
 
Through 27 games, Harvey has scored in double-figures 18 times and tallied at least 20 points in each of the last three contests. Harvey poured in a season-high 29 points on December 7 against William Smith and became the 14^th player in program history to score 1,000 career points in a 77-52 win over New Paltz on November 12.
 
Through games played in the Liberty League Championship, Harvey is the Liberty League leader in free-throw percentage, is second in three-point field goal percentage and third in both three-pointers per game and scoring average.
 
McDermed also earns First Team recognition for the second straight season and currently leads the Brewers in minutes with 36.0 per game, blocks with 1.3 and assists with 3.6. McDermed is second on the squad in scoring with 17.5 points per game and is converting at 47.5-percent from the field overall. McDermed is good for 6.7 rebounds per game and totaled five double-doubles to date on the season.
 
McDermed has reached double-figures in scoring 22 times on the season and has amassed at least 30 points in a game on three occasions, including a season-high 33 points against St. Lawrence on January 10. McDermed became the third player on the 2024-25 roster to reach 1,000 career points in  a 25-point performance at RPI on February 15.
 
Through games played in the Liberty League Championship, McDermed leads the conference in assists and minutes. McDermed is second in the conference in scoring, third in field goal percentage, fourth in free-throw percentage, fifth in blocked shots and eighth in rebounding.
 
At 21-6 overall, Vassar won its second straight Liberty League Championship on Sunday and will take on Amherst in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday in Northampton, MA.
