Haley Schoenegge Named Liberty League Performer of the Week

Sophomore took home her second national title at the NCAA Indoor Championships

Troy, NY - The Liberty League announced its weekly award winners for the week ending March 16 as Vassar College Women's Track and Field sophomore Haley Schoenegge scored another Track Performer of the Week honor.

Schoenegge became the first student-athlete in Vassar College history to win two national championships in a career on Saturday as she took home her second overall and first indoor national title in the mile with a time of 4:47.04 at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships at Nazareth University. Schoenegge also closed the championship with Second Team All-American honors in the 3000 meters with a time of 9:46.83.

Schoenegge took home her second career National Championship and her first indoor national title as she posted a career-best time of 4:47.04 and now holds the 11th fastest mile time in Division III history.  She also set the Nazareth University facility record with her time while outpaced the next finisher by almost two seconds and turning in a final 200 meters split of 33.64.

Schoenegge, who held the top seed time in the mile in 2024-25, was victorious in the second heat of prelims with a time of 4:53.82 to punch her ticket into the final. The sophomore led from start to finish in the second heat and recorded a time that would have top the facility record of 4:55.72.

Vassar will begin the outdoor season next weekend at the Ramapo Invite.
