Sierra McDermed (San Antonio, TX) earned her second straight and third overall Liberty League Performer of the Week Award in Women's Basketball it was announced Monday afternoon.
McDermed had a big week for the Brewers who went 1-1 in Liberty League play to close out the regular season. McDermed averaged 27.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game for Vassar and shot an efficient 48.7-percent (19-for-39) from the field and converted at 81.3-percent (13-for-16) from the free-throw line.
On Friday in an 81-62 victory over William Smith, McDermed posted her third 30-point performance of the season with a game-high 32 tallies. McDermed went 11-for-21 from the floor, including a trio of three-pointers, and finished 7-for-8 from the free-throw line. McDermed closed out the victory with 10 rebounds, four assists, two blocks and a pair of steals.
In the regular season finale, a tight 78-74 overtime loss to Ithaca on Saturday, McDermed poured in 22 more points and collected eight rebounds to go along with a team-high five assists.
At 19-6 overall, Vassar has earned the second seed in the upcoming Liberty League Championship. The Brewers will host a semifinal contest on Friday against the winner of the Skidmore and Union First Round game.
