TROY, NY - The Liberty League announced its weekly award winners for the week ending February 18th as Vassar College Men's Basketball first year
Shea Fitzgerald earned his second straight Rookie of the Week honor. Fitzgerald was also named the league's Performer of the Week in January.
Fitzgerald closed the season averaging 18 points per game in a 1-1 week for the Brewers. The first year shot 56.5-percent from the field, 40-percent from three and 85.7-percent from the free throw line over the two game stretch and tallied his 15th and 16th double-digit scoring games. Fitzgerald added eight rebounds and three assists in the two games and finished with 20 points against Hobart and 16 in the one-point triumph over Ithaca.Â
Fitzgerald finishes the season averaging a team-leading 14.6 points per game along with leading the team in assists with 59 and steals with 30. He ranks sixth-best in the Liberty League in scoring (second among first years) along with being top-15 in assists and top-10 in steals. He also ranks second in the league in free throw percentage and has tallied double-digit points in 16 of 25 games played.
