Troy, NY – After leading the Vassar College Women's Basketball team to a weekend sweep in the North Country, junior guard Tova Gelb (Sharon, MA) has been honored with a third Liberty League Performer of the Week award it was announced Monday afternoon.
 
Gelb led Vassar to Liberty League road wins at Clarkson and St. Lawrence by averaging 22.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game while shooting an efficient 61.3-percent (19-for-31) from the floor and 40-percent (4-for-10) from three-point range.
 
To open the weekend, Gelb scored 18 points, going 8-for-14 from the field, and collected 11 rebounds in a 67-48 victory over Clarkson. Gelb rounded out a strong all-around showing with three assists, two steals and a blocked shot.
 
On Saturday, in an 81-59 victory at St. Lawrence, Gelb poured in a career-high 26 points on 11-for-17 shooting, including a 4-for-8 effort from behind the arc. Gelb hauled in seven rebounds against the Saints to go along with two assists, a block and a steal.
 
Through 19 games, Gelb is second on the team in scoring at 14.1 points per game and ranks tied for fourth in the conference in scoring average, fourth in rebounding average (8.4) and second in field goal percentage (50.5).
 
Winners of 17 straight games and holders of an 18-1 overall record and a 12-0 mark in Liberty League play, the Brewers return home for the first time since January 6 when they play host to Bard on February 2.
