Jessica Young Garners D3Soccer.com Second Team All-American Honors

Senior captain named All-American as a second team defender

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – D3Soccer.com announced its 2022 Women's All-American Teams and the Vassar College Women' Soccer team saw Jessica Young recognized. The senior captain was named a Second Team honoree as a defender for the Brewers.

Young, a senior captain and defender, garnered her All-American honor, after starting all 18 games for the Brewers in 2022. She recorded two goals for four points, playing the second-most minutes of any player on the team at 1454 – behind only the starting goalkeeper. One of the key leaders on the Brewers defense, she anchored a blueline that allowed just 10 goals on the season – which ranked third fewest amongst Liberty League teams.

A 2022 All-Liberty League, All-Region First Team selection and Third Team Scholar All-American, she tallied a penalty kick goal in a 1-1 tie against Skidmore, while also recording the team's only goal in a tough 3-1 loss at RIT in the Liberty League Tournament First Round. Young was also named to the 2022 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, owning a perfect 4.00 cumulative grade point average as an Economics and Political Science major.

An All-League Second Team and All-Region Third Team selection in 2021, Young has played in 35 career games at Vassar, including 30 as a starter. She has scored three goals with two assists for eight points in that time, while also helping the Brewers to a 17-12-6 overall record with just 32 goals allowed.

Vassar concluded its season with 8-5-5 overall record. The Brewers finished 4-2-3 in the Liberty League, advancing to the conference tournament for the fifth time in program history. Earning the fifth-seed in the Liberty League Tournament, Vassar shouldered a tough 3-1 loss to fourth-seeded RIT in the First Round.
