TROY, N.Y. - The Liberty League has announced its weekly honorees in baseball and two Vassar College student-athletes were tabbed for their outstanding efforts. Senior Andrew Kanellis was named the league's Performer of the Week for the first time while rookie Jensen Bergman earned his first Rookie of the Week selection this season.

Kanellis continued his torrid pace to begin the season as he finished this week hitting .454 (10/22) with seven extra-base hits (5 doubles, 2 HR). He also scored eight runs and drew three walks as the Brewers are currently on a five-game winning streak. Kanellis blasted the game-winning homer in the ninth against Gettysburg in game two of the doubleheader on Saturday to earn a 12-11 victory. The senior is currently hitting .418 on the season with a league-best five homers, is second in doubles with seven and is also second in the league in total hits with 23.

Bergman had a monster week for the Brewers as he went 8/17 (.471) to help Vassar to a five-game winning streak this past week. The freshman added two extra-base hits (one triple, one homer) along with eight RBI and scored five runs. He also drew a walk and earned a HBP while swiping two bases. Bergman's RBI single through the right side in game two against Central put Vassar ahead for the final time as the Brewers clinched a 10-8 victory.

Baseball holds a 9-5 record overall this season and will begin Liberty League action this weekend with a three-game series with local foe Bard. The Brewers will play a road doubleheader on Saturday starting at 12:00 p.m. and then play its home opener on Sunday for a 12:00 p.m. first pitch.
