TROY, N.Y. - The Liberty League has announced its weekly honor roll for the period ending January 2nd and Vassar College student-athlete
Avni Mustafaj was recognized. The senior captain helped the Brewers to a victory last week, earning All-Tournament Team honors at the Washington & Lee Holiday Classic.
Mustafaj was outstanding for the Brewers last week, averaging 25.5 points per game at the W & L Holiday Classic. He recorded 21 points on 9-of-14 shooting with three boards and an assist in a tough 80-73 loss to the Generals. Mustafaj then knocked down 30 points on 7-of-10 shooting with a rebound and an assist as Vassar defeated TCNJ, 81-77, garnering himself a spot on the All-Tournament Team. Mustafaj also added seven points, a rebound and three assists in Monday's narrow 68-56 loss at second-ranked Williams College.
A starter in all 10 games this season, Mustafaj leads the Brewers in scoring, averaging 16.2 points per contest. In addition to a 4.1 rebounding average, he has amassed 21 assists and five steals. Averaging a team-high 31.2 minutes per contest, Mustafaj is also 48-of-59 from the free throw line this season for an 81.4% margin. Amongst the Liberty League's best, he ranks seventh in scoring, fifth in field goal percentage (47.7%), sixth in free throw percentage and seventh in minutes per game.
The men's basketball team returns to action on Friday when it travels to Clarkson for a 7:30pm Liberty League contest against the Golden Knights. The Brewers will then head to St. Lawrence on Saturday for a 4pm tilt against the Saints.
