Men's Swimming & Diving Solid in AM Session at Ithaca

Brewers move up a spot in the rankings with strong efforts

ITHACA, N.Y. – Day two of action kicked off with another bevy of solid swims as the Vassar men's and women's swimming & diving teams completed the morning session of action Saturday at the Bombers Invitational, hosted by Ithaca College. Through 20 events, the Brewers women sit third overall amongst 10 teams, while the Vassar men are fourth in the field of nine squads.

Action kicked off with the women's 200-free relay as the foursome of junior Alanna Muello, sophomore Maya Luongo, rookie Lilly Masters and senior Abby Whittington combined for a time of 1:39.80 – good for fifth overall. The men's side saw sophomore Ben Glazebnik, senior Robbie Perot, junior Lukas Johnson and sophomore Hayden Ehrenfeld combine for a time of 1:27.68 – also good for fifth.

Next up was the 400-individual medley as junior Sarah Quintana paced the women's side with a fourth-place finish – touching the wall in 4:50.17.

In the 100-butterfly, junior Alejandra Robins had a solid effort, taking eighth overall with a time of 59.47. Senior Lillian Lowenthal also clipped the top-10, earning tenth overall with a time of 59.62, while Luongo was 12th in 59.98. In the men's event, Glazebnik led the efforts, finishing 10th overall in 52.78, while senior Jason Albaum earned 17th in 53.42.

Rookie Addie Wiener had a strong finish in the 200-freestyle, taking third overall in 1:56.49 – just shy of second (1:56.29). The Brewers also saw rookie Abigail McLaughlin finish seventh in 1:58.06, while classmate Maleigha Vietti and senior Grace Myers were 13th (1:59.34) and 14th (1:59.37), respectively. The men's race saw a great effort from Perot, who took eighth overall in 1:45.61.

The final morning event was the 400-medley relay as the Brewers women earned third overall. Quintana, rookie Abbe Colgan, Robins and Whittington touched the wall in 4:00.01. On the men's side, rookie Sam Deluca, senior Anthony Cheng, Glazebnik and Ehrenfeld combined to finish in 3:35.61 – good for sixth overall.

Ithaca leads the women's standings with 809 points, followed by Hamilton (692) and Vassar (585.5) to round out the top three. The University of Rochester (394) and Le Moyne (321) close out the top five. The men's standings are also led by the host Bombers, who have 796.5 points. The University of Rochester is second (776.5), followed by Hamilton (476.5), Vassar (322) and Susquehanna (320) to round out the top five.

Action continues at 1pm with diving, while the evening session of swimming will get underway at 6pm tonight. Diving results will be included in tonight's recap.
