Swimming & Diving Competes at Bard

Brewers see solid efforts to open 2022-23 slate of events

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Vassar College men's and women's swimming & diving teams took to the water on Wednesday evening, competing at Bard College in a scrimmage meet at Stevenson Pool.

The Brewers kicked things off in the 200-yard medley relay as the women's foursome of Sarah Quintana, Abbe Colgan, Alejandra Robins and Sophie Forbes touched the wall first in a time of 1:53.88. Vassar's other two relay squads took the second (1:58.88) and third (2:01.54) spots as well in the event. The men's side saw VC's Sam Deluca, Anthony Cheng, Jason Albaum and Hayden Ehrenfeld combine for a time of 1:42.14, outpacing the Brewers other relay in the event (1:50.86).

In the 1,000-yard freestyle, Addie Wiener posted a time of 11:16.62, while Maleigha Vietti was second in 11:16.71. The men's side saw Eli Werner finish with a mark of 11:38.22.

The 200-yard freestyle saw Grace Myers hit the wall first in 2:05.05, followed by Lillian Lowenthal and Stephanie Norris in second (2:09.30) and third (2:11.91), respectively, while the men's event saw Cheng post a mark of 1:54.76, followed by Robin Auwaerter (2:02.76).

In the 50-yard free, Alanna Muello touched the wall in 26.29, while the men's event saw Ehrenfeld notch a 22.60 for the top spot. The 200-IM saw Colgan earn the top finish on the women's side in 2:20.96, while the men's event had Robbie Perot in first with 2:04.81.

Robins powered her way to first in the 100-butterfly in 1:01.05, while Abby Whittington was the top spot in the 100-free with a time of 56.87. The men's 100-free saw Ben Glazebnik with a mark of 50.62.

Vietti was the top finisher in the 100-backstroke with a time of 1:03.10, while the men's side saw Deluca with the top time in 58.54. In the 500-free, Wiener notched a time of 5:40.17 on the women's side, while the men's was won by Perot in 5:03.81.

The 100-breaststroke saw Colgan post a time of 1:11.18, while Cheng was the top finisher on the men's side in 1:01.35.

Meet action concluded with the 200-yard free relay as Wiener, Muello, Abigail McLaughlin and Whittington combined for the top time on the women's side in 1:44.58. Lily Masters, Lowenthal, Jolie Walker and Vietti were second in 1:47.24.

The men's event saw Perot, Werner, Deluca and Glazebnik combine for a mark of 1:35.72, while the foursome of Tyler Tsukuda, Auwaerter, Leroy Wang and Jacob Cerone were second in 1:50.00.

The Brewers men's and women's squads are back in the pool for their season opener on October 22, hosting Brandeis at 1pm in Kresge Pool.
