POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Junior forward Zach Johnson (San Francisco, CA) had a dominant final game of the semester to earn Liberty League Performer of the Week recognition for Vassar men's basketball.
Johnson led the Brewers with 19 points and a program-record 20 rebounds in the 70-57 win over Union on Tuesday evening. It was the junior's sixth double-double of the season, and Johnson shot 9-of-16 (.563 percent) from the field. Johnson also added four assists and a steal. Â
Currently, Johnson leads the Liberty League with 13.0 rebounds a game (104 total) and is sixth in field goal percentage (.509). His rebounding total is also tied for eighth across Division III.
The Brewers are 6-2 overall and sit at 3-0 in the conference. Vassar returns to action on Jan. 2 for the Steel Club Classic to face host Moravian at 4:30 p.m. in Bethlehem, PA.
