CORONADO, CA (January 10, 2015) – The Vassar men and women's swimming & diving teams competed against the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in a non-scoring meet Friday afternoon during the teams west coast training trip. The teams have been out training in the San Diego metropolitan area for the past week in preparation for the final weeks of the season ahead.
"This group was fired up to compete," said head coach Lisl Prater-Lee." The long course was a nice change of pace to keep things fresh and exciting."
Highlights on the men's side included swims by Greg Cristina (50 M free, 26.44, 2nd), Anthony Walker (100 M fly, 1:01.72, 1st), and Chris Cerutti (100 M back, 1:11.52, 2nd).
Highlights on the women's side included swims by Lizzy Balter (50 M free, 30.91, 3rd), Julia Cunningham (100 M fly, 1:09.19, 1st), and Olivia Harries (400 M free, 5:03.88, 2nd).
"Everyone was excited and up and going!" said Prater-Lee. "It was a great substitute for a morning training session and allowed us to go Olympic length distances to push us just that much further with our racing."
The Vassar swimming programs will be back in Kresge Pool to compete against Trinity College and Mount Holyoke (women) on Tuesday, January 13 at 1:00 pm.
