Coach John Cox Tabbed As Northeast Region's Wilson/ITA Coach Of The Year

2013 NCAA DIVISION III MEN'S ITA AWARDS

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (May 13, 2013) - With his second year of service still underway, Vassar College Men's Tennis coach John Cox was tabbed as the Wilson/ITA Coach of the Year for the Northeast Region. He joins Chuck Willenborg of Johns Hopkins University (Atlantic South), Todd Wojtkowski of Case Western Reserve University (Central) and Paul Settles of Claremont-Mudd-Scripts Colleges (West) as the Coaches of the Year.

Out of all four of the schools with the top coaches in their region, Coach Cox has the only, non-nationally ranked team. Despite that fact, his Brewers have gone toe-and-toe with the national powerhouses, #9 Johns Hopkins and #14 Case Western. Vassar fell, 9-0 to Case Western in the earlier section of its Spring Schedule during the Mary Washington Tournament. Then the Brewers battled Johns Hopkins in the second round of the NCAA Tournament held at Middlebury College. They fell, 5-1.

Claremont-Mudd-Scripts is tabbed as the #1 nationally ranked school.

Coach Cox's season is still going with senior No. 1 Andrew Guzick gearing up for the National Singles Championship.
