Men's Hoop Guard McGraw Named Honorable Mention All-Liberty League

McGraw led the Brewers in eight statistical categories in 2009-10

POUGHKEEPISE, NY (February 25, 2010) – After a season in which he led the Vassar College men's basketball team in eight statistical categories, including scoring and minutes played, sophomore guard Caleb McGraw was named Honorable Mention All-Liberty League as announced today in voting conducted by league coaches.

McGraw led Vassar in scoring (16.9 ppg) and ranked second in the Liberty League in that category and averaged 34.8 minutes per game. His 16.9 per game scoring average ranks as the fifth best single season mark in school history. His 147 field goal attempts ranks sixth best in a single season and his 421 field goal attempts is a single season record. He topped Vassar in points, scoring average, field goal attempts/made, 3-pointers attempted/made, free throws made and minutes.

The three-time Liberty League Guard of the Week scored in double figures in 21 of 24 games and led the Brewers in scoring 13 times during the season. 

McGraw scored 37 points against Endicott College in the season opener, the single highest scoring game in the Liberty League during the 2009-10 season. He scored 17 or more points in 15 games, including 31 against nationally ranked Brandeis and 28 points against Ramapo. He also tallied 20 points versus national power Amherst and had a string of 13 straight games scoring in double figures. 

In Liberty League play, McGraw averaged 14.4 ppg and scored in double figures in all but three games. He improved his rebounding average by 1.5 rpg per game from freshman to sophomore year, averaging 4.0 rpg his sophomore season, including a career-high nine rebounds against Hartwick. To complete his season, McGraw added 1.7 assists and 1.0 steals per game.
