Elizabeth Anderson ensured she would join her teammates for Saturday's quarterfinal play at the New York State Women's Tennis Championships, with a 0-6, 6-2, 10-5 win over Melanie Cohen of host Ithaca College at Cornell University's Reis Tennis Center on Friday.
With byes in five out of six of the singles flights, and all three of the doubles flights, there was minimal action for the Vassar College women's tennis team in the first day of play at the NYS Championships. Seeded No. 3 in the No. 4 singles flight, Anderson rebounded from her first set loss to advance to the quarterfinals along with the rest of her teammates on Saturday. Here are Saturday's matchups:
